Sue Sassmann is a seasoned business development, marketing and services leader with more than 25 years of experience helping law firms drive growth, elevate visibility and deepen client engagement. Known for her collaborative style and ability to turn insights into action, Sue defines and executes Builden’s service delivery model across all disciplines, including creative, digital, media, content and strategy. She establishes and maintains quality standards, workflows and processes that ensure consistent, high-caliber output.

Passionate about helping attorneys grow their practices, Sue provides strategic business development coaching tailored to each firm’s unique goals. She understands the challenges attorneys face when it comes to growing a book of business. Sue leads the teams that help attorneys translate growth goals into simple, effective actions that drive results. Her approach includes identifying target markets, connecting with clients, potential clients and referral sources in ways that align with each attorney’s strengths, and making smart decisions about how to allocate time and resources. As a trusted advisor, Sue acts as a sounding board, holds attorneys accountable and provides ongoing support to ensure they stay on track and achieve their goals.

Sue is responsible for identifying emerging trends, technologies and methodologies that can enhance Builden’s service offerings and partnering with leadership to develop new service lines, capabilities and partnership opportunities. Her leadership promotes a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation and data-driven decision-making.

At Am Law 200 firm UB Greensfelder, Sue led strategic business development and marketing initiatives working closely with practice and industry group leaders to identify growth opportunities, develop compelling marketing materials and ensure consistent, strategically aligned messaging across the firm.

Previously, Sue served as Business Development Director at Armstrong Teasdale, where she led a high-performing team and spearheaded initiatives that drove client acquisition and long-term relationship building. Her leadership contributed to a pitch win rate well above industry averages and the generation over $1 million in new business.

Sue holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications Management with a minor in Journalism from Missouri State University. In 2024, she was honored as an Unsung Legal Hero by Missouri Lawyers Media. Sue is an active member of the Legal Marketing Association and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the St. Louis Chapter.

She lives with her family outside of St. Louis, Missouri.
